Musicambia at Rikers

Virtual Programming: In June 2020, we commissioned each of our 13 Teaching Artists to create a short video series (30 minutes total) on their instrument or musical genre. These videos were shared for free with up to 5,000 men and women incarcerated in New York City. In 2021, we were invited to correspond with participants via email. Program Director spiritchild responds to emails of homework he assigns for his hip hop video series on a weekly basis.

In-Person Programming: In December 2021, we led a 3-day songwriting workshop with veterans incarcerated at Rikers. In February 2022, we held a songwriting workshop with women incarcerated at Rikers Island.
