Laura Weiner

Board Member & Former Teaching Artist

Laura Weiner is a passionate musician, prison abolitionist, and public defender. She was a proud member of the Musicambia teaching faculty from 2016-2023, and is thrilled to be a member of Musicambia's board. Laura spends her days as a criminal defense attorney at the Legal Aid Society in the Bronx. She spends her nights and weekends gigging with Alarm Will Sound, Decoda, Genghis Barbie, and other freelance groups around New York City. Musicambia transforms the lives of both its students and its teachers-- Laura credits her Sing Sing music students with changing her life and sending her to law school to defend the accused. We all contain multitudes, and no human being belongs in a cage.
